Daniel C. Chan, New York State Acting Chief Information Officer and Acting Director of the Office for Technology (OFT) joined fellow State CIO’s to deliver remarks during Government Technology Magazine’s (GTC’s) Application Modernization Event on February 28.
The event, hosted by eRepublic, centered on the importance of application modernization to streamline and simplify approaches to delivering high quality IT services. During the event, Dr. Chan talked about the role application modernization plays in the overall strategy of New York to better manage the delivery of IT.
"As state agencies invest in technology to help them simplify the management of their computing environment, it has become increasingly clear that a comprehensive approach to application modernization is important,” said Dr. Chan. “Like other States, many of New York’s IT systems have become obsolete, and costly to operate and support. Without investments in application modernization we risk the ability to lower our operating costs, share resources and most importantly operate as a modern organization, to serve our citizens the way they expect."
Dr. Chan was joined by fellow CIOs, Mark Bengel, CIO for the State of Tennessee and Mark Raymond, CIO for the State of Connecticut who shared successes, challenges and lessons learned from statewide projects designed to improve IT delivery.
